What is SoloSync™

SoloSync is the BlackBerry solution for SME and SOHO customers that run their own Exchange server. SoloSync gives you BlackBerry with wireless synchronization of e-mail, calendar and contacts. You essentially have the enterprise user experience on your handheld that normally only comes with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server; however now you no longer need to install, maintain and manage that extra server.

You only outsource your wireless server to us, not your mail server. Unlike any other hosted BES solution, our unique service will allow you and your users to stay on your existing Microsoft Exchange Server, and connect to our BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

SoloSync is a subscription based service. Simply put... hardware, software, licensing, installation and ongoing maintenance are no longer necessary.

Activation and server upgrades are all included.

SoloSync Service Provides:

Bi-directional synchronization of the following items between a BlackBerry handheld and a Microsoft Exchange mailbox:

Email:

• New e-mails
• Read/unread status changes
• Deleted e-mails
• Sent e-mails from the BlackBerry

Calendar:

• New appointments/meetings
• Appointment/meeting changes
• Deleted appointments
• Cancelled meetings
• Accepted/declined meeting requests
• Recurring appointments/meetings

Address book:

• New contacts
• Changed contact details
• Deleted contact

SoloSync Service Does Not Provide:
Bi-directional synchronization of:

• Tasks and memos
• Appointment and contact attachments
• Inbox subfolder (Folder redirection)
• Recurring appointments if the master appt is older than 30 days
• Global address book lookup

Security

SoloSync operates with a high level of security. Communication between your Microsoft Exchange server and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server in our data center takes place through HTTPS-connection with 128-bit encryption using a signed digital certificate. Messages between the BlackBerry devices and the SoloSync hosting center are always encrypted by the AES/3DES encryption protocol. By using an HTTPS-connection, BlackBerry and SoloSync provide an end-to-end solution with a high level of security.

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server monitors all information exchanged between the wireless network and your mailserver. However, there is no customer data stored on the BlackBerry Enterprise server. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server only forwards from and to the mailserver.

This connection is initiated by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installed at our Data Center and no other host, inside or outside SoloSync, can initiate this connection. Only when the connection is authenticated, secure communication will take place between the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the BlackBerry device.
